The role in brief

The Israel Innovation Authority is recruiting a student for its Technological Research Division in Jerusalem. According to the ad, one of the Authority's main goals for the coming year is to ground its policy in data, information, research and systems. The student joins a team that collects data, runs studies that support data-driven decisions and helps manage complex projects with internal partners.

The job is part-time: about two and a half days a week and up to 120 hours a month. Start is immediate and pay is a student wage that the ad does not state.

The profession: economic research and data analysis

This kind of role is an entry point into the analyst and researcher profession: working with raw data, building analyses and turning them into conclusions that decision makers can use. The ad asks for SQL, R, Stata and Python, BI tools such as Tableau, and strong Excel and presentation skills.

According to study.co.il (no publication date shown), a finance analyst with 0-5 years of experience earns on average NIS 10,000-15,000 gross a month in a full-time job, and a statistician starting as a research assistant at a research institute earns NIS 7,000-10,000. These are general averages, not the pay for this role.

About the Authority

The Israel Innovation Authority is the government body that funds and supports research and development in Israeli high-tech. Per its website, the law establishing it was approved by the Knesset in August 2015 and the Authority began operating in early 2017, built on the Office of the Chief Scientist in the Ministry of Economy. Globes notes that the Chief Scientist's Office was founded in the 1980s.

A Globes article from January 2024 describes it as an independent statutory authority. According to that article its annual budget is about NIS 2.3-2.4 billion per the Finance Ministry, including an extra NIS 1 billion in 2024. At the time the Authority began replacing the R&D Fund with a Startup Fund, where the maximum investment per company is NIS 15 million. The figures are as of the article's date and may have changed.

In Israel and abroad

The Authority is tied to the Israeli model of government support for R&D. Research and policy units like this exist in comparable bodies abroad, so experience analyzing industry and technology data carries over. The ad itself speaks of comparing Israeli potential with opportunities abroad.

What the ad says

Studies that support data-driven decisions - from the role description in the ad

The ad asks for a BA or MA student in statistics, life sciences, economics or PPE, or another relevant field, with about a year and a half of studies left. Data science experience or study, familiarity with data repositories, interest in high-tech and project management experience are an advantage.

How the role works

Responsibilities per the ad: help analyze and process data across technology fields, survey technology areas and compare Israeli potential with opportunities abroad, and consolidate projects, insights and deliverables so they are accessible. Work is at the Authority's offices in Jerusalem, and candidates must provide documents showing they meet the threshold requirements.

Who it is for

Students of statistics, economics or data science who want hands-on data analysis experience in a public body and have about a year and a half of studies left. Anyone seeking a full-time job or a fixed salary should note that the ad states no pay.

Status

The ad was posted on Jobnet on 19.10.2026 and also appears on Drushim. It says CVs can be sent until 31.10 at 23:59, but the year written is 2025, probably a typo. We assume 31.10.2026 and recommend checking the ad directly. We did not find an official Authority careers page for this role.
